It was an awakening to attend the FTG Summit in Danbury, NH last week. For me, and many others attending from around New England, it was a first time, face-to-face meeting. No hybrid; solely live. A community center where a day’s long summit for climate and energy democracy activists was supremely hosted by Fix The Grid.
Kudos to Mireille Beijjani and members of Slingshot for positively reviving my association with face-to-face, day long events as genuine community and a feeling of belonging. There were children happily mingling throughout the day and attending available day care. A Spanish language interpreter provided real time translation. Food greeted early morning travelers who drove through rain and snow to participate. Lunch was a vegan taco bar. There was water to fill personal containers but no plastic water bottles or drinks. A videographer and professional photographer documented the gathering. The entire space was filled with breakout groups discussing different levels of grid issues. More details of the day, including a video recording, is coming soon.
